I think
that as you grow older
it appears you have to remain
overwhelmingly optimistic.
-Why?-
you may ask,
because I think
as a young kid
the only thing you know about artists
is people who've had success and luck
in their life.
Famous
artists.
Not
the local artists who runs
the local art gallery.
The only thing you might know musicians
are Justin Bieber
or
iPods.
Not
the band playing at your local club
or
the music festivals happening on Saturday.
As a kid
the only things and people you know
are successful and famous
at what they do.
But as you grow older
you realise
that not every good writer
becomes
Jackie French or Morris Gleitzman.
And not every great actor
becomes
Angelina Jolie or Mel Gibson.
You can be absolutely AWESOME at what you do
but there is only one of you
and so many of the others just like you
that if you don't end up
one of the lucky ones
just know
that you're special
(trust me, I'm not trying to play the psychologist, even if you're an adulterer, murderer, thief or just plain loser, you're still special. [This DOES NOT mean I approve of what you're doing in your life!!!!!!])
and support those who've really got talent.
Not the overrated American singer
but the fair dinkum Australian guitarist.
